The amount of times I’ve seen people chalk up their own complete refusal to use critical thought when examining a work that doesn’t spoonfeed everything to them as bad writing is astounding.
Some people want the entire plot pre-analyzed for them by the author and every single theme spelled out instead of trying in read between the lines and interpret anything.
Like they they expect every character to be info-dumping their motivations constantly and the narration to spoon-feedi the meaning of every line of dialog, use of symbolism, and plot point to them.
